Born in Chicago, Burroughs gained fame with his creations, most notably Tarzan and John Carter of Mars. The character Tarzan, introduced in the novel “Tarzan of the Apes” (1912), became a cultural phenomenon, featured in numerous books, films, and other media. Burroughs’ Barsoom series, starting with “A Princess of Mars” (1912), showcased swashbuckling adventures on the red planet.
